ABOUT

MY JOURNEY SO FAR ◆ The key stages of my life ◆
Childhood & Adolescence: restrained intelligence and school intimidation
- As an only child, I grew up peacefully in the countryside of a small village.
- Early learning of reading and writing in primary school — a grade‑skip was suggested but refused by my parents out of prudence (a well‑intentioned decision, but one I experienced as a limitation).
- Interest in computer science in high school, but the private school refused that path and imposed another field deemed “more suitable”.
- Schooling in private religious institutions — boarding school marked by intimidation. Beginning of my first fictional universe (Kinoko Legend) during adolescence, written in my locked bedroom.
Ages 18 to 22: first professional attempts
- At 18, I opened a video game and manga shop, supported by my grandfather, but had to close it after two years (due to theft and scams).
- Multiple small jobs to “pay the bills” (factories, shops, secretarial work, etc.). Constant writing of my first novels in the evenings — my life goal was already very clear…
Ages 23 to 26: financial independence and first real estate success
-
- Since my novels didn’t yet allow me to support myself, I made a strategic decision: get a job that would let me buy my first house without anyone’s help.
-
- I passed a civil service exam (Postal Service) — excellent results that allowed me to be assigned to my own village (a rare opportunity).
-
- With a mix of boldness and determination, I quickly obtained a permanent position (no longer a substitute), which unlocked access to the mortgage I needed.
-
- I found and bought, at a very low price, a non‑buildable piece of land that nobody wanted, which I improved to make it viable (water, electricity, access) — its value then tripled.
-
- Lacking the funds to build a house on it, I eventually decided to sell it to generate a profit and pay off my mortgage.
-
- The former owners attempted to claim a percentage — I waited two years to avoid their pressure.
-
- Sold two years later — my first successful real estate operation.
Ages 27 to 29: a new beginning in Canada
- Several events convinced me to move to Canada: affordable real estate opportunities, a publisher interested in my novels, and a friend who wanted to move there.
- I resigned from my civil service position and left for Québec.
- Quickly bought a house without a mortgage thanks to the sale of my land.
- Lived in shared housing for two years with a friend.
- Various small jobs — a Québec publisher released one of my novels, but only on their website.
- Two years later, my friend left. Attached to the place, I chose to stay — alone, without family or friends.
Ages 30 to 31: financial autonomy through rental real estate
-
- Motivation: generate passive income to keep writing and traveling.
-
- I mortgaged my house to obtain a loan and buy a duplex, then a triplex.
-
- I juggled temporary jobs and renovated my buildings myself.
-
- I also took online graphic design courses to learn coding and digital art — a way to build a backup income and expand my creative skills.
-
- At 30, I traveled alone to Colorado for an exploration trip to celebrate my birthday.
-
- A great period of freedom — several trips to the USA — the best time of my life!
-
- Moved into a fourth country house by a lake, with a new loan.
-
- Up to four houses simultaneously at age 31.
Ages 32 to 35: real estate collapse and change of direction
- Bad tenants, damages, unpaid rent… a buildup of difficulties.
- Sold my three rental houses before falling into over‑indebtedness.
- Met my partner, who encouraged me to return to school.
- Less time for my artistic career, which slowed down.
Ages 36 to 39: return to studies and successful career change
- Passed a second civil service exam (administrative agent for the State), but with no nearby job opportunities.
- Studied medical transcription (successfully completed) + parallel jobs (telemarketing, pet stores…).
- Transitioned into legal transcription (a remote work opportunity for the Government).
- Managed a small team of subcontractors — a new period of financial stability and growth.
- Resumed my artistic career (creating small mobile games, illustrations, a new novel).
Ages 39 to 42: new hardships and loss of direction
-
- Lost my job due to Covid 19 and Québec’s high tax burden.
-
- Chaotic romantic relationship.
-
- Loss of my grandmother in 2018 (my main maternal figure).
-
- Depression lasting 3-4 years — long artistic pause and loss of meaning.
-
- 2022, the most difficult year:
- cryptocurrency theft
- diabetes diagnosis for my beloved cat
- breakup
- multiple debts
- unexplained health issues
- Medical evaluation: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) — a condition that greatly reduces my physical abilities, my waking hours, and my concentration.
- 2022, the most difficult year:
Ages 43 to 44: quiet rebuilding and renewed motivation
- Highly effective cognitive behavioral therapy that restored meaning to my life.
- Sold my house with double the profit (renovations done myself to maximize value).
- Moved into a custom built micro house (mortgage free).
- A simple, more modest but happy life with my cats Tiny and Kyukyu.
Age 45 to Today : final trial and creative rebirth
- May 19th, 2025: loss of my diabetic cat, Tiny, after six final months of fighting complications from his illness.
- This painful experience inspired the idea for “Woundipets“, where I transform my grief and anger into creation.
- Only Kyukyu and this project (which means a lot to me) give me the strength to get up every morning.
- I decide to give my artistic career one last chance by starting over from scratch.
CONCLUSION
My path may seem full of detours, but it follows a simple logic: I always did what I needed to survive while keeping creation at the center. I learned quickly, worked hard, and moved forward with the means I had. If I changed directions, it wasn’t instability — it was necessity. And through it all, I never gave up on my artistic vocation.
